Forum: movies Subject: Most movies viewed are downloaded not streamed

[a note from jon aizen, web engineer]

Hi Brewster,

You asked if I could find out what percentage of
people download movies versus what percentage stream movies. I was fairly
confident that the number of "streamers" dwarfed those who chose to
download. Well, I was wrong!

About 57% of all movie accesses are downloads, whereas only 43% are streams.

84% of the streams are high bandwidth (the 256k link as opposed to the 32k

Of the downloads, 45% are divx downloads, 1.8% are quicktime downloads,
27.5% are vcd downloads, 24.5% are mpeg2 downloads. About 0.8% are DVD

If there are other stats you're interested in, I can probably generate them,
just let me know.

Forum: movies Subject: amount downloaded from movies and overall

the prelinger movies are about 20Mbits/sec pretty continously. the total bandwidth out of the archive is over 100Mbits/sec. or about 6.5TB and 32TB overall.
